“I have been taking weekly lessons with Rosie for about 9 months now. Rosie is always on time and has planned out our lesson. To keep things interesting, she mixes up the type of lessons we do (for example, sometimes we'll focus on listening, sometimes speaking, sometimes grammar, and so on). After each lesson, she sets a little homework for me to study in my own time, usually putting into practise what we've just been learning. What I love most about studying with Rosie is that she is able to explain and contextualise the language in a way that the various apps available just can't. I wouldn't want to study with anyone else, and Rosie has given me much confidence in putting my language skills to use when I visit Japan next month. I cannot recommend Rosie enough for someone who is serious about learning Japanese and willing to put in the effort required.

“This was my first time learning a language, and my first time having a tutor. I was nervous at first as I stepped into the language learning world pretty much blind, I truly believed I was in over my head at first, like I didn't have the mental capacity to even take it all in. I didn't believe I was smart enough. I was nervous up until the day I met Rosie on zoom, and I have to say, she eased my mind greatly. She's incredibly understanding and so patient. She knows what it's like to learn a language, so she doesn't rush or force anything onto you, she has a marvellous ability to motivate you in a positive way. And she makes you realise you can do it. She's put in many years of her life and time into the Japanese language, and it really shows, she's an amazing linguistics teacher and her modern approach to teaching is refreshing and adjustable to your pace and needs. She builds lessons around you and always makes sure that even on days when you don't see her, there is an abundance of things to do. catered to your needs of course. I've had the honour of being tutored by Rosie, for almost a year, and it was a year well spent. I couldn't recommend her more if I tried, and I can 100% guarantee that you'd never regret learning from Rosie. 5 stars.”

“In the last two years of tutoring, Rosie has made learning Japanese a real genuine thing I enjoy! We have a lesson on average twice a month via Zoom. I couldn't speak at all before starting but now (hopefully!) I have a bit more confidence. Even though I'm learning as a hobby, I can really see how much I've improved by having our lessons + studying for an hour or two each week. We generally work around N4 level material, and I'm considering maybe taking an exam for this in future. I'm very busy with life and work so it's great to have a teacher who's great at explaining things in different ways, always keen to push you to a higher level, and also the right balance between serious and fun!”

“I have been learning from Rosie Sensei for a few months now and plan to continue learning from her for a good while. Finding the right tutor who really cares about your education can be difficult, and from the first lesson I could already tell she was very well prepared for any type of student. I love how she challenges me to really put forth effort during our lessons and provides plenty of homework to enforce new skills. Rosie deserves nothing but 5/5 stars because her effort to make every lesson valuable makes me want to try my best in and out of the virtual classroom.”

“Tutoring with Rosie really helped me in supplementing my own Japanese study, especially while off of uni and without access to my Japanese classes. She was always super prepared with materials, flexible with the content in case I wanted to look at a particular area, and most importantly she was just super nice! It was like having study sessions with a friend, and the tutoring really helped me in building my confidence in my Japanese learning. I found it especially helpful as she was really good at explaining things in a way my non-native speaker brain could understand, which was something I sometimes didn’t get from my native Japanese uni teacher.

I did two tutoring sessions with Rosie, one was one-on-one which was brilliant and the other was as a group session. Both were really good classes, I enjoyed both as in a group you could get interaction with more than one speaker, while the one-on-one lessons were really customizable to your own needs as a learner. I started in Rosie’s Beginner Group A lessons in September. I was amazed at how incredible Rosie先生! She was patience and kind when teaching! I was excited to attend the lessons every week and learn new concepts and use concepts I learned the week previous. After completely this set of group lessons, I went to complete Beginner Group B and Beginner Group C lessons with Rosie先生! These group lessons were really fun and informative. These lessons were super helpful and Rosie先生 always kept the lessons engaging! I learned so much from them, Rosie先生 was always reinforcing what I’ve learned in these lessons and giving me opportunities to use what I’ve learned!

I now complete weekly 1:1 lessons with Rosie 先生, she is always on time, organised, motivating, reliable! She always prepares for our classes but still allows me flexibility with my lessons! Rosie先生, is super helpful and is amazing at simplifying concepts such as grammar rules for me. She allows me time to answer stuff on my own and in my own way, while encouraging me! I really enjoy my lessons with Rosie先生 and will continue to take lessons with her!

Now that I’ve been studying with Rosie for 6 months now, I can confidently say she is one of the best Japanese teachers out there! She understands the learners perspective and give useful tips and tricks for learning! I am extremely grateful to Rosie先生, because of her I have become alot more confident with speaking, reading, listening and writing Japanese!
